Research areas description
The main objective of the EPICENTRE is to contribute to the global research and development effort in insure an adequate safety level for civil engineering structures in Canada, and particularly in Quebec, at a reasonable cost in the event of a major earthquake.
Another important objective of the EPICENTRE is to supply highly qualified personnel in Earthquake Engineering in Quebec and Canada through the formation of graduate students.

Specialized equipment
High performance earthquake simulator (shake table); a displacement-controlled hydraulic actuator of 1500 kN capacity; an environmental room allowing structural testing down to -40 °C.
