The Association québécoise pour la maîtrise de l'énergie (AQME) has awarded the Energia (student category) prize to Polytechnique's Jonathan Vianou for his project "Choice of humidification technology in an energy efficiency context." The prize was awarded on November 9, 2005, during the Énergia 2005 gala evening.

The Énergia awards were created to recognize achievements of particular excellence and merit in matters of energy savings and efficiency.

Mr. Vianou, an undergraduate student in mechanical engineering at École Polytechnique, developed his project under the direction of Professor Alberto Teyssedou.

His project consisted of developing simulation software to compare the energy consumption of three types of humidifiers (compressed air, high water pressure and electrically generated vapour) and produce a financial analysis of the selected humidification technology. The software is thus a highly effective decision-making tool, and is particularly adapted to the needs of firms specializing in energy management for buildings, since it enables them to assess the financial viability of humidifying any institutional building.

Mr. Vianou's innovative project has already netted him a prestigious honour: the title of "Energy Ambassador," granted by the Office of Energy Efficiency in March 2005.

Our congratulations to Mr. Vianou!
