Marie-Danielle Duquette, a student from Cégep de Drummondville who is graduating from her pre-university
program in natural sciences (health profile), will receive a scholarship of $80,000 from the Schulich Foundation. The amount will be split into eight equal instalments that will be given to her at the start of each university semester starting this fall.

Her remarkable student record, her role as a helper in two assistance centres within her CÉGEP, her committed work with young provincial-level male gymnasts, and her strong letters of support — including one from Sébastien Schneeberger, Member of the National Assembly for Drummond–Bois-Francs — all played key roles in Polytechnique Montréal's selection of this ambitious young woman who strives for perfection.

The annual scholarship program rewards Canadian students who stand out for both their excellent academic records and their community involvement. Applications are open to undergraduate students registered in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics program. The university in turn chooses its annual winners.

The Schulich Leader Scholarships were created by Canadian businessman and philanthropist Seymour Schulich. Along with the Canadian initiative, a similar Schulich Leader Scholarship program operates in Israel. With a total value of $100 million, the program was established to ensure Canada's and Israel's economic competitiveness. It aims to support the Canadian and Israeli scientists of tomorrow in their research and innovation efforts.
