Flavia Visentin 
Bio

Flavia is an environmental engineer (2005) and holds a master’s in water resources (2010) from Universidad Nacional del Litoral, Argentina. She has over 15 years of experience in water treatment and management, environmental impact assessment, and project management. In 2020, she defended her Ph.D. thesis titled “Drinking water treatment of sources containing cyanobacterial blooms with Vacuum UV (VUV)” (Polytechnique Montréal, Canada). Right after, she joined the Physics Department at Polytechnique Montréal where she coordinates the CREATE SEED training program and the UNESCO Chair in Green and Sustainable Electronics (GSE). She actively participates in several research projects to improve waste from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) management and valorization.

Camille Bour-Cardinal 
Bio

Camille Bour-Cardinal is an international master student in Material Engineering at Polytechnique (Montréal, Canada) and an engineering student in Grenoble INP – Pagora (Grenoble, France). At Pagora she studied biosourced and fibrous materials, and at Polytechnique she mainly works on biosourced conductive inks characterization for printed electronics. Camille enjoys sports in general, food and cooking.

Hamza Hyat is an international Ph.D. student in Materials engineering at Polytechnique Montréal (Québec, Canada). He received his Master’s degree (2021) in Chemistry from University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Pakistan. He moved to Montréal in Jan 2023, At Polytechnique Montreal, His goal is to optimize an effective method for metal recovery from the bottom and fly incinerator ashes. Joaquin Isasmendi  

Bio

Joaquin Isasmendi, originally from Asunción, Paraguay, grew up in the vibrant city of Montreal. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics and is currently pursuing his M.Sc.A. in Engineering Physics under the co-supervision of Clara Santato, Raphael Trouillon, and Lucien Weiss. Joaquin's areas of interest encompass biosensors, organic electronics, sustainability, biophysics, and neurochemistry. His current research revolves around paper-based biosensors, with a focus on developing innovative and sustainable diagnostic tools. When he's not immersed in his studies, Joaquin enjoys playing music and spending time in nature. He also participates in friendly squash matches with friends.

Bio

Kesawarthini Bhaskaran, a PhD student from India, obtained her bachelor's degree in Physics in 2021 and her master's degree in Physics from SRM Institute of Science and Technology in 2023. In January 2024, she joined Polytechnique Montreal as a PhD student in Engineering Physics. She has experience in biosensors and transistors, contributing to her growing expertise in these fields.

Melchiade MANIRAKIZA is PhD student from Burundi. Since 2018 to 2022, Melchiade Manirakiza worked as assistant lecturer at Ecole Normale Supérieure of Burundi (ENS). As a Ph.D. candidate in materials engineering, my research primarily focuses on enhancing the electrochemical performance of carbon-based supercapacitors through the utilization of redox-active biomolecules. Shahid Khaleel is a Ph.D. student in Engineering Physics at Polytechnique Montreal. Bio

Yasser Matos-Peralta born in Cuba (Cárdenas) in 1992. He received a Bachelor´s degree (2016) and a Master´s degree (2020) in Chemistry at the University of Havana, Cuba. His background is focused on fields like electrochemistry, bioinorganic chemistry, and materials science. Youssef Ben Mami is a Bachelor student from Tunis, Tunisia. Youssef moved to Montreal in 2019 and started his engineering bachelor in physics and is still currently completing his Bachelor.
Youssef is currently an intern that's working on thin melanin films in order to measure their quantum effeciency and photoconductive properties.He is motivated by the prospect of new useful  properties that might be discovered thanks to his work. Bio

Anthony Camus is a Post-Doctoral originating from Tahiti, French Polynesia. From the pollution of the smallest river to the bleaching of the coral reef, he witnessed the effect of human activities on the biospheres. Anthony moved to Montreal and started his engineering physics’ bachelor in 2014, and his master’s studies in 2019.Anthony is currently working on printed films of Sepia melanin. His goal is to study the charge carrier properties of the bio-pigment as well as to evaluate the life-cycle environmental impact of printed films. Anthony is passionate about nature and love playing ultimate frisbee.

Zhaojing Gao 
Bio

Zhaojing Gao is Post-Doctoral fellow in the Department of Physics Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal. She earned her MSc degree in Photovoltaic Engineering from Xiamen University and PhD in Materials Engineering from Polytechnique Montréal. Her research focuses on charge carrier transport mechanisms in organic semiconductors, recovery of precious metals from e-waste and the application of organic semiconductors in field effect transistors and ion-gated transistors. She has also worked on heat transfer in thermal rectifiers and hybrid models of Photovoltaic cells and thermoelectric modules.
