École Polytechnique de Montréal announces the creation of the Jean Charles Lemieux Award, thanks to Mr. Lemieux's donation of more than $100,000 to the Fondation de Polytechnique.

The Jean Charles Lemieux Award will be given annually to an engineering student who wishes to continue his or her studies at the master's level. The award will be $1,500 in its first year and increased regularly over the next 25 years.
With this gesture, Mr. Lemieux (Class of '67) wishes to show his continuing regard for his alma mater and his recognition of the quality of the university education he received -- training that has played a predominant role in his professional success.

"By creating the Fonds de bourses Jean Charles Lemieux and also contributing to the existing award in the name of the late Roger P. Langlois, I wanted to encourage the success of future Polytechnique engineers," said Mr. Lemieux. "This is my way of recognizing  and supporting the pursuit of excellence in our engineering profession."

Mr. Lemieux has particularly fond memories of Mr. Langlois, a former Polytechnique professor and director general who worked tirelessly throughout his career, and even into his retirement, to contribute to the success and reputation of the School, its students and graduates.

Mr. Lemieux is a Senior Project Director in SNC-Lavalin's Energy Division. He has demonstrated his commitment to Polytechnique during his career through the Association des Diplômés (ADP), of which he is a Governor, the Fondation de Polytechnique and the Conseil consultatif de l'École Polytechnique (COCEP).

École Polytechnique de Montréal extends its heartfelt thanks to Mr. Lemieux for his contributions to the School's advancement.
